On Wednesday, the 1st of December, the Ministry of Environment, Lands and
and Agriculture Development held it handing over ceremony of Agricultural Equipment from China at the Parliament House, Ambo.

At the beginning of this year, the Government of Kiribati, through MELAD and the People's Republic of China signed the Implementation Agreement on Agriculture and Aquaculture co-operation. Through this agreement, the Ministry has received financial and technical assistance in order to improve the production capability of the two farms at Bikenibeu and Temwaiku and also the performance of local farmers.

Equipment such as water trucks, agricultural hand tools and shredder machines were among the equipment handed over to the Government of Kiribati.
The event also highlighted the handing over of feed production provided by China under the agriculture corporation to the Ministry of Tourism, Commerce, Industry and Co-operatives.

The event was witnessed by His Excellency Te Beretitenti, Ambassador from the People's Republic of China, Members of Parliament and MELAD staff.
The Government of Kiribati welcomes further opportunities to work with the Chinese Government with a view to strengthening the bonds of friendship and mutual understanding which exist between the two countries.
